Attending LSU is Dangerous for Olivia Dunne as she is Going to Skip it Due to ‘Safety Reasons’

After the NCAA made the landmark decision to permit athletes to earn from their name, image, and likeness (NIL) in 2021, Olivia Dunne’s life was never the same.

The top LSU gymnast, 20, who currently earns seven figures as the highest-paid female athlete in the NCAA, admitted to Elle magazine that she no longer physically attends lessons due to “safety reasons.”

“There were some scares in the past, and I just want to be as careful as possible,” In the profile article, which was released on Tuesday, Dunne stated, “I don’t want people to know my daily schedule and where I am.”

Dunne, who has combined TikTok and Instagram followings of 11.9 million, acknowledged that there are more people watching her and said she is cautious when strolling around the school in Baton Rouge, where other students frequently approach her for pictures.

Dunne, who is currently unmarried, admitted that she shares a lot of her life on social media but that she intends to keep that aspect of her life private.

As Dunne continues to straddle social media celebrity and her role as a pioneer of the NIL age, safety issues have been at the forefront for her.

Olivia Dunne revealed to “Today” in a separate interview from earlier this month that her sizable social media following has led to some threatening remarks, adding that “it is a bit concerning.”

Just two weeks prior, Dunne made headlines when a sizable group of raucous male spectators attended the Tigers’ season-opening game against Utah in Salt Lake City.

At the time, adolescent guys formed lines outside the venue requesting Dunne’s attendance while others arrived at the Jon M. Huntsman Centre carrying posters asking the gymnast for selfies and social media following.

Due to the police presence at the gymnastics competition caused by the fan attention, LSU added more security measures.

Elle claims that there hasn’t been a comparable problem since.
