Marcus Mariota has big shoes to fill at Atlanta Falcons this season. After 14 years with the team, star quarterback Matt Ryan left the falcons to move to Indianapolis Colts. This means that Mariota will have the QB1 role in Atlanta which will closely be contested by rookie QB, Desmond Ridder. Mariota is not worth drafting in single quarterback leagues but he can be take into consideration for two-quarterback and Superflex leagues.

The pre-season training camp will reveal a lot about the Falcons and both Mariota as well as Ridder. It is expected that Marcus Mariota will get the nod to start games, but he can not be complacent and a few bad results could mean that Desmond Ridder can get his chance on the team. That being said, Mariota can be a good option in fantasy leagues, given his ability to make plays with his legs. Also, in Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and Cordarrelle Patterson, he has good quality in the passing game.

Mariota is a former Heisman trophy winner and has a lot of potential in him. The move to the Falcons might be just what he needs to revitalize his career and give him a completely new start in the league. A lot of it will come down to how Mariota starts. If he is able to put on good performances, he can fend off Ridder, but if he slips up in the first few games, it might spell the end of his career in the NFL.

Last year, Marcus Mariota did not get a lot of playing time, he passed only for four yards over the entirety of last season. It will be interesting to see how Mariota adjusts to playing in a new team and if he is able to revitalize himself.
