Another Twist in the Kevin Durant Tale as Nets Reported to Keep KD & Kyrie Irving for 2022-23 NBA Season

The Brooklyn Nets have received a request from Kevin Durant for a trade. Several teams are putting up trade packages for him. The Nets should be able to persuade Durant to sign a new deal after Kyrie Irving entered the last year of his deal. The Brooklyn Nets are dealing with a predicament. Kyrie Irving is undoubtedly considering leaving the franchise if Kevin Durant wants to be traded.

They are, however, looking for the best deals for both players, particularly KD. The NBA’s restriction on free agency lifts on Wednesday at noon ET, but it doesn’t appear that this will have much of an effect on the Kevin Durant contest.

And according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Nets are still attempting to persuade their star combo to stay. Still, they are comfortable retaining them through the season if the perfect deal doesn’t materialize. The Nets are acting with the belief that Durant and Irving will remain in Brooklyn.

Nets are content with keeping Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving

“Despite Durant’s trade request from Brooklyn—mere hours before free agency commenced on June 30—the Nets are not operating with any sense of urgency to move Durant, sources told B/R. After a flurry of trade chatter heading into the holiday weekend, league personnel have begun discussing the potential for Brooklyn to retain Durant—as well as Kyrie Irving—into the regular season, should a commensurate package for the two-time Finals MVP never emerge. There’s no pressure on Brooklyn,” Jake Fischer reported.

Many people thought that Brooklyn‘s drama was finished when Irving exercised his Player Option. But the commotion goes on. The Miami Heat or the Phoenix Suns are reportedly Durant’s favored teams.

The Nets don’t seem to be in a hurry to close a deal. It’s improbable that Durant will stay in Brooklyn for another season since he still wants to be dealt. KD has demonstrated that he cannot be counted on in the long run. On the next squad, he joins. This expectation could, however, alter.
