Angel Reese sheds tears post LSU season finale, facing uncertain future: “I just try to stay strong”

After the LSU Tigers won the 2023 national championship, Angel Reese talked about the pressure and negativity that followed. Her NCAA career may have ended on April 1 after the team lost to the Iowa Hawkeyes.

In the March Madness Elite Eight, the standout women’s basketball player suffered a 94-87 loss against Caitlin Clark, who ultimately emerged victorious in their collegiate rivalry before they both moved on to the WNBA to resume their rivalry in late 2024 or early 2025.

Reese, however, experienced an emotional outburst following the loss that was characterized by sadness and vulnerability as she discussed the hostility she had encountered from sports fans rather than anger or irritation. She has experienced so much hate that she can no longer even appreciate life.

“I just try to stay strong,” Post-game, Reese stated. “I’ve been attacked so many times.

“Death threats, I’ve been sexualized, I’ve been threatened… I’m still human. All this has happened since I won the national championship & I haven’t been happy since then.”

Reese’s remarks, which are another development in their rivalry after she previously mocked the NCAA record point scorer in their 2023 national championship game, come only one day after she publicly announced that she and Clark are not friends.

The Tigers prevailed 102-85 at the time, and Reese was seen making fun of Clark and showing her ring finger to suggest that she was superior to him.

Therefore, it’s possible that Baton Rouge hasn’t seen her end her chapter with them just yet because her future is uncertain. However, Clark made sure to leave Reese with a bad taste as she was going to the WNBA.

She might have recalled the gesture made by the LSU Tigers during their triumph, as Clark put on a tremendous performance, scoring 40 points, dishing out 12 assists, and grabbing seven rebounds.

Angel Reese, on the other hand, put up a commendable effort with 17 points, 4 assists, and 20 rebounds, but it was unable to stop the Caitlin Clark offensive machine as it advanced to the Final Four.
