About Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Popularity, Uniform, Salary

Dallas Sweethearts

The official cheerleaders for the Dallas Cowboys football club in the National Football League go by the moniker “America’s Sweethearts” and occasionally go by the initials “DCC.

The audience cheered when a short-skirted, well-endowed stripper by the name of Bubbles Cash down the stairs leading to the bleachers on the 50-yard line during a game between the Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons at the Cotton Bowl in 1967. She was clutching cotton candy in each hand.

She gained the attention of Tex Schramm, the general manager of the Dallas Cowboys, and instantly became a local celebrity in Dallas. Recognizing the value of the entertainment sector to the Cowboys’ bottom line, Schramm was motivated to develop a cheerleading team that wore attire akin to Cash’s.

Why The Popularity?

The Cowboys cheerleaders immediately won over Dallas supporters at home, but they had not yet been seen by a large television audience. When the Cowboys played the Kansas City Chiefs at Texas Stadium on a Monday night in 1975, everything changed.

The cheerleader in question drew the director’s attention. At some point during the game, the cheerleader realized that there was a camera pointed at her. She gave a flirtatious response, posing for the camera and even winking. One of the squad’s pivotal moments in history occurred at that time.

The group’s fame has grown over the years as a result of its appearances on calendars and its United Service Organizations (USO) tour performances for American service members stationed abroad.

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team, the group’s own reality television series, made its premiere in 2006. The program airs on Country Music Television (CMT) during the NFL season while it is still in production.

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders have had quite the ride over the past 50 years, and their popularity doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon. And to think that Tex and Bubbles, two people, were responsible for the beginning of it all.

How Much Do The Cheerleaders Get Paid?

It is difficult to imagine NFL cheerleaders make so little money, given how much time they devote to their teams and how much NFL franchises are valued.

Even though cheerleaders may need to arrive at games five hours early to prepare for their performances or put in 30 to 40 hours a week of preparation, they are paid far less than other stadium employees.

Contrary to popular belief, NFL cheerleader salaries are lower than you may expect. The cheerleaders often make $150 per game. This equals $22,500 a year.

Furthermore, if they are chosen for a public appearance, they can receive somewhere between $50 and $75. So, the more you flaunt your skills on camera, the more money you make.

If we are not talking about averages, cheerleaders often earn $500 or so per game. If your squad is well-liked and well-known, that is.

One of the most well-known groups in the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, often known as America’s Sweethearts, make roughly $15 to $20 per hour, or $500 every game. Consequently, their annual compensation works out to be around $75,000.

The Uniform They Wear

We look at every little nuance of how America’s Sweethearts’ signature style has changed, from their gorgeous tresses to the spurs on their boots, in honour of the 11th season of CMT’s Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team.

Finglass claims that the outfit has always been tailored to the wearer. “Both Judy and I can recall our first fittings. There is now an even greater focus on the details… It fits the body well and is really feminine.” The boot has also been modified. Because these boots are lower in weight and have a softer sole, Finglass predicts that the kicks will be higher and the dancing will be happier this season. “The steel shank has been taken out. Now that they are more malleable, a pointed toe and a higher kick should be more effective.”

One outfit included a fringed skirt, a cropped shirt with a Western influence, and boots. The other, a considerably skimpier outfit, was warmly approved by Schramm and is essentially the same uniform as that worn by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders this close to 50 years ago.
