Timberwolves Analyst Under Custody & Fired For Stealing Vital Information From The Executive
According to a criminal complaint filed on Wednesday and acquired by ESPN, a Minnesota Timberwolves employee was dismissed, arrested, and charged with felony third-degree burglary for allegedly taking thousands of internal files, including “strategic NBA information,” from a team official.

The 33-year-old Somak Sarkar, a former coaching analyst for the Timberwolves, is being held pending a court appearance on Thursday afternoon in Minnesota. As of Wednesday afternoon, he was not represented by an attorney.

The Timberwolves informed ESPN that they were aware of the claims and that they would not be making any more statements at this time. ESPN was informed by a source that the team will not press charges.
A criminal complaint was filed on Wednesday, claiming that last month, an employee of the Wolves’ analytics department, Sachin Gupta, had over 5,000 files containing confidential team data taken. The man has subsequently been sacked.
Last month, a hard disk belonging to Gupta’s Target Center office was taken. Information about the Timberwolves’ operations, including as “employment and player contracts, as well as strategic NBA information,” was stored on the hard drive.

The complaint also claims that Gupta’s Social Security number, bank account information, and tax information were among the private data on the hard drive.
since August 2021, Timberwolves. After serving as the manager of basketball analytics for seven years with the New Orleans Pelicans, he previously worked for a year as the coordinator of coaching analytics for the New York Knicks.
In October 2012, he worked as an intern in basketball operations for the Houston Rockets, which was his first position mentioned with an NBA team.

According to the lawsuit, Sarkar was seen on camera on the evening of February 3 entering Gupta’s locked office two after checking to see whether anybody else could see him.
After obtaining a search warrant, the police entered Sarkar’s house and discovered many hard drives, USBs, a computer, and three tablets. All of the data that had been taken from Gupta’s hard disk was reportedly later found on one of Sarkar’s devices.
According to the article, Gupta remains detained since his detention on Monday, with a $40,000 bond amount. On Thursday, he is anticipated in court.

With 13 games remaining, Minnesota, ranked third in the Western Conference with 47-22, is still in contention for the top slot.
