‘Zero Running Back’ Strategy Targets In 2023 Fantasy Football…
With the zero running back strategy proving to be effective in many fantasy football mock drafts this year, who are some of those running backs you can target later in your drafts?
What is the Zero RB Strategy?
The zero RB strategy is when you stay away from the running back position until at least the forth or fifth round. The concept and goal of this is to stack up on elite pass catchers on your roster. This strategy will most likely be successful this year as only 5 running backs are projected to go in the first round so stack up on pass catchers earlier is more efficient. Running backs are also the most volatile position in football so the thought is that you should waste highly valuable draft picks on such a risky RB. This year, there are a limited amount of high end wide receivers as well there is a surplus of running backs that have RB1 upside. Some of those running backs include…
1.) Aaron Jones
Aaron Jones is currently going as the RB18 and the 41st player taken off draft boards, he is the perfect candidate for your RB1 spot if you ready to take on the zero RB strategy. The Packers have a first year starter at QB and the best way to ease your first year starter into the NFL is by putting an emphasis on the run game. Jones is dynamic in the sense that he provides the threat as a rusher as well as a pass catcher through check downs. Basically, Jones is Christian McCaffrey on a budget. He you are avoiding RBs early in fantasy football, Aaron Jones will be a snag in the 4th round.

2.) Rachaad White
With Kyle Trask and Baker Mayfield dueling it out for the QB1 spot, either QB is sure to be the worst in the national football league. With that said, i expect for the run game to be a big factor for Tampa this year. Rachaad white showed a lot of promise last year and i expect the Bucs to give him a more involved role in 2023. You can get him as the RB23, which is decent value for someone with him upside.
3.) D’Andre Swift
D’Andre Swift is the new lead back for the Philadelphia Eagles, and we all know how Miles Sanders played last year behind that Eagles O-Line. Sanders finished with over 1,200 yards on the ground and finished as the RB15 in fantasy. I believe that Swift has a better skillset than Sanders and he can be more productive than Sanders was. If you are able to grab Swift in the 6th round, take a shot on him. The only concern i pose with Swift is that he is prone to injuries, for that reason if you are able to snag Rashaad Penny later in the draft, do so as well.
