American professional basketball player Onyeka Okongwu plays for the National Basketball Association’s Atlanta Hawks. He represented the USC Trojans in college basketball. Onyeka played at Chino high school in California and shared the court with Lonzo ball and LaMelo ball and helped his high school team to win the state championship. He was named the MaxPreps co-National Freshman of the Year after helping his team win the state title and experience success on the national stage as a freshman.

Onyeka was selected by Atlanta Hawks in the 2020 NBA draft. Atlanta Hawks confirmed on 24 November 2020 that they signed Onyeka as the Sixth overall pick in the 2020 draft.

Onyeka was born on 11 December 2000 in Los Angeles, California, United States to parents Kate and Mike Okongwu. Onyeka’s mother Kate is a registered nurse by profession. His father passed away in 2021. His parents got divorced and Onyeka lived with his mother while growing up. Her mother enrolled him in basketball camp when he was 5 years old. He is very close to his parents and his parents also supported him in every phase of his life. They often visit the grounds to watch his matches and to cheer him up.

Onyeka has 3 Sibling. His Older brother named Nmadi died in a skateboarding accident. His other two younger siblings’ names are Chukwuemeka and Chinemya. His both younger brother and sister also play basketball for Chino high school.
