LeBron James’ Struggling Lakers Side Set to Host Meyers Leonard, Who Was Suspended For Anti-Semitic Slur on Twitch Stream
The Lakers and Mavericks battled into double overtime on Thursday night in a rugged game devoid of some anticipated calls, and while Dallas continued making huge plays, the Lakers were unable to ever seal the deal. The Lakers were defeated 119–115, unable to overcome the burden of so many missed field goals and free throws. LeBron James attempted to make the huge plays for the Lakers that Doncic was making for the Mavericks, but both of his three-point attempts rimmed out and one bounced off the rim.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Los Angeles Lakers are dipping so far into the free-agent pool that they will give former Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers center Meyers Leonard a workout on Friday.
Lakers to host Meyers Leonard for a workout
Since 2021, Meyers Leonard has not played in the NBA after using an anti-Semitic term while watching a live feed of him playing video games. Leonard has a lifetime average of 5.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in 16 minutes per game. Leonard made 272 shots at the 3-point line in his final four seasons in the NBA, connecting on 43% of them.

He played in the NBA for nine seasons until making his final appearance with the Heat in January 2021. Shams mentioned that his lack of court time over the previous two years was due in part to injuries.
The Lakers have searched for potential shooting and size, with Leonard and DeMarcus Cousins set for free-agent workouts Friday. At 7-foot-1, Leonard has shot 42.9 percent from 3-point range over his four last seasons.

Meyers Leonard made a racist insult on a Twitch stream in March 2021. After apologizing and claiming he didn’t know what the phrase meant, Leonard hasn’t participated in league play since.
