In the 2018 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers selected Shamet as the 26th overall choice. The Los Angeles Clippers acquired Shamet in a trade on February 6, 2019. Shamet was gained by the Brooklyn Nets on November 19, 2020, as part of a three-team deal that also saw Luke Kennard go to the Los Angeles Clippers. Shamet was gained by the Phoenix Suns on August 6, 2021, along with Day’Ron Sharpe’s draught rights and Jevon Carter.
