“Have to be Disciplined”: Mac Jones Opens Up on Working Hard at the Patriots
Individual New England Patriots players are still working hard to be ready for the upcoming 2022 NFL season as the club is taking a well-earned break from on-field sessions. The quarterback Mac Jones is in considerably better shape than he was when he was a rookie, according to one of the most frequent assessments from the Patriots’ offseason program.
Jones claims that’s the outcome of just plain old labor. The result is that quarterback Mac Jones is taking “no days off,” in classic Patriots manner. The second-year signal caller for New England has made the necessary efforts to advance both physically and psychologically.
Jones’ offseason development program has included longer time on the field with his pass catchers in addition to personal growth. Jones said that he is training hard and eating healthier, and the results speak for themselves to Phil Perry of NBCSportsBoston.com.
Mac Jones opens up on his improvement
“I made significant strides,” he said.
“Fixing my body, feeling comfortable, feeling healthier and better. At the end of the day, you’re still a human and you want to eat what you want to eat, but you have to be disciplined.”

The Alabama product has engaged in informal throwing practices and private workouts with a number of Patriots receivers since the beginning of the spring. Jones participated in an offseason throwing workout in Tampa, Florida in April with Kendrick Bourne, Jakobi Meyers, DeVante Parker, Nelson Agholor, and running back J.J. Taylor.
Although there was some concern that Jones was losing steam late in the game in 2021, the Patriots were still satisfied with his performance as a rookie. If Jones is in better physical condition in 2022, he may be able to perform at his peak when it counts most.
