Heinz Field Will Never be the Same With an Insurance Company Slapping Its Name on the Pittsburgh Steelers Home
The smart money would have been on a local company like UPMC snatching the rights when news of Heinz Field’s new moniker surfaced on Monday night. However, it appears that the Pittsburgh Steelers were not in the mood for another hometown bargain. Heinz Field no longer exists.
According to 93.7 The Fan, the Steelers‘ longstanding home will change its name to Acrisure Stadium beginning in 2022, just over 20 years after it first opened near the Ohio River.

According to Andrew Filipponi, the renowned Pittsburgh-based ketchup firm Heinz decided against renewing its naming rights agreement for the North Shore venue. Acrisure, a Michigan-based insurance agency, will now be the new sponsor of the Steelers’ home stadium.

Pittsburgh Steelers home ground to be renamed
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has discovered that Grand Rapids-based fintech startup Acrisure, which has connections to Steelers minority owner Thomas Tull, has acquired the naming rights to the North Shore stadium. The agreement would put an end to the 20-year partnership between the Steelers and Heinz, whose name has been associated with the football stadium since it opened in 2001.

Fans in Steel City might not be familiar with Acrisure, a rapidly expanding international insurance agency, but the two organizations do have a relationship. Two years ago, the business purchased the insurance division of Tulco LLC, the industry pioneer in artificial intelligence, whose chairman and CEO is Mr. Tull. According to a statement made at the time, Tulco acquired a sizeable minority stake in Acrisure as part of the agreement.
The door was left open for a prospective change when Steelers owner Art Rooney stated earlier this year that discussions surrounding stadium naming rights were still underway between the team and Kraft Heinz. Heinz committed to a one-year extension in 2021 after initially signing a 20-year, $57 million sponsorship deal to sponsor the team’s stadium.
