2024 NBA All-Star Voting: Predicting Starters And Reserves

The 73rd NBA All-Star Game is scheduled to take place in Indianapolis’ Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday, February 18 at 8 p.m. ET. It will be shown on TNT in the United States and be available to fans in more than 200 nations and territories in more than 50 languages.

It’s challenging to choose just 24 All-Stars because there is so much talent in the league, but I tried my hardest.

Here are my predictions for the NBA All-Star Game in 2024, along with a few shoutouts to the hard decisions that were left out, along with starters and reserves for each conference.

Eastern Conference All-Stars prediction

Eastern Conference All-Star starters

  • G: Tyrese Haliburton, Pacers
  • G: Donovan Mitchell, Cavaliers
  • F: Jayson Tatum, Celtics
  • F: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks
  • F: Joel Embiid, 76ers

Joel Embiid, the current MVP, is an obvious choice in the frontcourt since his body of work this season has perhaps exceeded that of last season. In a similar vein, two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is solidly back in the MVP race with an almost silent 31.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game average.

Despite not being among the top five candidates for MVP right now, Jayson Tatum is still improving as a player and, as a result of his All-Star caliber play, is the greatest player on the best team in the league.

Eastern Conference All-Star reserves

  • G: Jalen Brunson, Knicks
  • G: Damian Lillard, Bucks
  • G: Tyrese Maxey, 76ers
  • G: Trae Young, Hawks
  • F: Bam Adebayo, Heat
  • F: Scottie Barnes, Raptors
  • F: Jaylen Brown, Celtics

There is undoubtedly a guard-heavy bunch of reserves. In this year’s contest, Jalen Brunson, Damian Lillard, Tyrese Maxey, and Trae Young can all make an argument to start. I might even see one of the four getting back ahead of Mitchell in a week, but this is where things stand right now based on an East-wide view.

Western Conference All-Stars prediction

Western Conference All-Star starters

  • G: Luka Doncic, Mavericks
  • G: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Thunder
  • F: LeBron James, Lakers
  • F: Kawhi Leonard, Clippers
  • F: Nikola Jokic, Nuggets

Both Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic, who are in their sixth NBA seasons, have just been selected to the All-NBA First Team. They are the most worthy starters at the guard position, especially considering their standing in MVP discussions this season.

LeBron James is a “legacy” choice in the frontcourt, but his inclusion in the starting lineup is also a result of his 21st-season ranking among the league’s top 10 players, where he averaged 24.7 points, 7.6 assists, and 7.2 rebounds for a Lakers club that would be lost without him.

Western Conference All-Star reserves

  • G: Stephen Curry, Warriors
  • G: Anthony Edwards, Timberwolves
  • G: De’Aaron Fox, Kings
  • F: Anthony Davis, Lakers
  • F: Kevin Durant, Suns
  • F: Paul George, Clippers
  • F: Rudy Gobert, Timberwolves

The calls from the West were the toughest. With the nod as an injured substitute in 2023, Anthony Edwards in the backcourt is worthy of an All-Star selection that he counts. It was then three players vying for two berths. Despite how challenging it was, Devin Booker was somewhat outclassed by Stephen Curry and De’Aaron Fox.
