Denzel Mims Cleared, Will Play In Week 17

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims (concussion) cleared concussion protocols and will play in Sunday's matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. The 25-year-old was a full participant in practice this week and will return Sunday after missing Week 16 due to a concussion. Mims has caught 11 passes for 186 yards over eight games in 2022. The former second-round pick is expected to be the Jets' WR4 behind Garrett Wilson, Corey Davis, and Elijah Moore. Mims has a minimal role in New York's passing game and can be left on the waiver wire in most league formats.

Denzel Mims Practices In Full Thursday

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims (concussion) was a full participant in practice on Thursday. While it's unclear if Mims has officially cleared concussion protocol, he's certainly making progress toward playing against the Seahawks in Week 17. The 25-year-old has seen increased snaps over the second half of the season and has earned the trust of quarterback Mike White, but he's still not worth rostering as the fantasy season nears a conclusion.

    Denzel Mims Returns To Practice

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims (concussion) returned to practice on Wednesday as a limited participant. After being unavailable in Week 16, Mims appears to be on the right track with head coach Robert Saleh saying that he's in the final stage of concussion protocol. However, the third-year receiver likely won't make much of an impact against the Seattle Seahawks, as he's still playing behind fellow receivers Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore, and Corey Davis. Mims is not an option for fantasy in Week 17.

Denzel Mims Unlikely To Play In Week 16

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims (concussion) is unlikely to play in Week 16 on Thursday Night Football against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Mims suffered a head injury in the Week 15 loss to the Detroit Lions and is unlikely to pass through the league's concussion protocol on a short week in order to play on Thursday night. Before he was hurt on Sunday, the 25-year-old caught one of his two targets for 13 yards. Mims has been a complete non-factor in fantasy in 2022, catching only 11 of his 24 targets for 186 yards and no touchdowns in eight games. He has yet to score in 28 NFL games. If Mims is inactive this week, Jeff Smith and Braxton Berrios could have bigger roles in the passing game if Corey Davis (concussion) misses another game with a head injury of his own.

Denzel Mims Evaluated For Concussion, Ruled Out

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims (head) is being evaluated for a concussion and has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions. He caught one pass for 13 yards before departing. The Jets are already without Corey Davis (concussion), so losing Mims means that Elijah Moore, Braxton Berrios, and Jeff Smith should see more opportunities behind Garrett Wilson.

Denzel Mims May Not Be Done With Jets

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims recently requested to be traded. The team has already received a few calls on him. However, while many may see things differently, head coach Robert Saleh still views the wideout as a member of this year's roster. "Like I've said, he's one of our best receivers, and he's gonna be here as far as I'm concerned," commented Saleh when asked about the situation. Ultimately, others will have a say regarding Mims' future. Yet, after Saleh's latest comment, it appears as if the 24-year-old has a chance of remaining with the club, although it won't mean much for fantasy managers until he starts producing.

Denzel Mims Formally Requests A Trade

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims has requested a trade. Mims' agent, Ron Slavin, released a statement, stating his client "has been given no opportunities to work with the starting offense." The 24-year-old was selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Throughout his two seasons with the club, he hasn't been productive, racking up only 67 catches for 409 yards while failing to score a touchdown. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if the former Baylor Bear will actually be moved or if this situation can be repaired. However, Mims has reportedly been putting in extra work this offseason, so he's someone to keep an eye on, especially if he ends up on a new team with a stable quarterback.
