  Jordan Akins Signed To Active Roster

  The Houston Texans signed tight end Jordan Akins to their 53-man roster from their practice squad on Wednesday, according to his agents. The Texans recently cut Pharaoh Brown and Brevin Jordan (ankle) has missed the last couple of games due to injury. In three games active in 2022 in Weeks 3 through 5, Akins has caught seven of his eight targets for 86 yards and a touchdown. The 30-year-old isn't much of an option for fantasy managers in 12-team leagues, though, in Houston's lackluster offense with O.J. Howard also available at the position. And when Jordan returns from injury (likely after the Week 6 bye), Akins will have plenty of competition for targets at the position.

  Giants Cut Tight End Jordan Akins

  New York Giants tight end Jordan Akins was cut by the team on Wednesday. NFL teams are working their way through the roster deadlines, resulting in several players around the league being released. The former Texan is one of the latest to experience this and will now be forced to search for a new team. The 30-year-old spent his first four seasons in Houston and signed with the Giants this offseason. His production dipped in 2021, finishing with only 24 receptions for 214 yards and zero touchdowns, his worst numbers since his rookie season. Rookie tight end Daniel Bellinger has received a lot of praise during the preseason, which is likely what prompted the team to feel confident moving forward without Akins. This adds excitement and opportunity for the 21-year-old Bellinger, making him a possible streaming candidate to monitor in all formats.
