Dawuane Smoot Feared To Have Torn His Achilles
Jacksonville Jaguars standout defensive lineman Dawuane Smoot (Achilles) is feared to have torn his Achilles in the Thursday night win over the New York Jets, according to a source. Smoot has been one of the team's best defensive linemen this year, so losing him for the rest of the season would be a big blow as they try to make the playoffs. He's getting an MRI exam on Friday. The 27-year-old was carted off the field on Thursday night in the fourth quarter after a non-contact injury, which usually never end up being good. In his sixth year with Jacksonville, Smoot has recorded 21 tackles (14 solo), five sacks, six tackles for loss, 12 QB hits, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 15 games played (zero starts).
