The 27-year-old is on an expiring deal with lead back Nick Chubb showing no signs of slowing down. That being said, it sounded like Hunt was expendable and the Browns would try and get something before he leaves for free agency. Despite that, the Browns have decided to keep Hunt on their roster as they compete for a playoff run this season. He should continue to be a useful asset in fantasy leagues after he returns from a bye in Week 9.

  The Cleveland Browns are willing to grant Kareem Hunt's trade request, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com. Hunt initially asked to be traded this past summer, and while the Browns refused to entertain offers at the time, it appears their stance has changed just in time for the trade deadline on Tuesday. Cleveland "would rather receive compensation for Hunt via a trade rather than lose him in free agency," writes Schefter. Specifically, the Browns are asking for a fourth-round pick or any selection better than the compensatory pick that they would receive when Hunt walks in free agency.

  D'Ernest Johnson Set For Expanded Role If Kareem Hunt Is Traded

  Cleveland Browns running back D'Ernest Johnson could have an expanded role with the team if backfield teammate Kareem Hunt is moved before next Tuesday's trade deadline. The Browns are listening to offers for Hunt as he is eligible to become a free agent after the 2022 season. After receiving double-digit rushing attempts in each of the first five games of the season, Hunt's touches have been down in the last two weeks. He's carried the ball a combined nine times against New England and Baltimore for 16 net yards, plus one four-yard reception on three total targets.
