  O.J. Howard Inactive Against Colts In Week 18

  Houston Texans tight end O.J. Howard (hip), who was listed as questionable for Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, has officially been ruled out for the regular season finale. It's a bit surprising that he's not active after returning to a full practice on Friday, but the Texans have decided to keep him out in a meaningless game. The 28-year-old finishes his first year in Houston with a career-low 10 receptions on 23 targets for 145 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games played (10 starts). With Howard out, Jordan Akins and Brevin Jordan will split the pass-catching duties at the position for the Texans, but neither of them are particularly attractive streaming options in fantasy at the position as the Texans play out the string.

  Texans Sign O.J. Howard

  The Texans signed tight end O.J. Howard on Thursday. The 27-year-old was recently released by Buffalo and was expected to sign with the Bengals. However, he is now heading to Houston instead. The Buccaneers drafted Howard in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He began his career in Tampa Bay by recording 11 touchdowns throughout his first two seasons. Yet, he combined for only four over the next three years with the team. Nevertheless, there's a chance Howard could climb the depth chart, overtaking Pharaoh Brown and Brevin Jordan, so despite not having much fantasy value currently, that may change as the year progresses.

  O.J. Howard Expected To Sign With Bengals

  The Cincinnati Bengals are expected to sign free-agent tight end O.J. Howard on Wednesday. The 27-year-old was recently cut by the Buffalo Bills but appears to have found a new home. He'll join teammate Hayden Hurst, who was signed by the Bengals earlier this offseason, adding additional depth for a team with Super Bowl aspirations. This offense is typically one we want to target in fantasy football, however, they already have an elite trio of wide receivers that includes Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd. All three receivers will slot in ahead of Howard and Hurst, making it difficult for either to have a big role and contribute. Hurst will likely end up as the more valuable option, but neither player is worth targeting in standard-sized fantasy leagues.

  Bills Release O.J. Howard Tuesday

  The Buffalo Bills released tight end O.J. Howard on Tuesday, according to sources. There had been reports all summer long suggesting that Howard was in danger of being cut, and now it's official. The 27-year-old former Tampa Bay Buccaneer looked slow and failed to separate from defenders in training camp, so he'll now look for work on the open market. In his final season with the Bucs in 2021, he hauled in 14 of his 21 targets for just 135 yards and one touchdown in 17 regular season games (nine starts). Buffalo will move forward with Dawson Knox, Tommy Sweeney and Quintin Morris on their tight end depth chart.
