Raiders Evaluating Trade Market For Derek Carr
The Las Vegas Raiders will begin the process of evaluating the trade market for quarterback Derek Carr as they prepare for a decision on their QB for the future, according to sources. Carr, who holds a no-trade clause, officially bid goodbye to the organization on his official Twitter account on Thursday. There is a firm deadline of Feb. 15, where Carr's $40.4 million in salary over the next two seasons becomes fully guaranteed, so time is of the essence. The Raiders benched Carr for Jarrett Stidham for the final two weeks of the 2022 season, and he will be playing for a new team in 2023 after nine years with the team. Because of the no-trade clause, Carr will have significant say in where he ends up. His 2023 fantasy value will depend on his landing spot.

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was benched this past week. Now, the team is already looking to move on from him. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that the Raiders are "expected to explore trade options" for the veteran quarterback during the offseason. It's worth noting that Carr's $32.9 million base salary for 2023 and an additional $7.5 million of his 2024 base becomes fully guaranteed if he's on the roster three days after the Super Bowl. As a result, Las Vegas needs to act rather quickly and make a decision on its quarterback within the next month or so.

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has been benched. The Raiders will start Jarrett Stidham Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. Las Vegas entered the year with high expectations. Unfortunately, they've fallen extremely short of them. While their playoff chances are slim, the Raiders are mathematically still in the mix for a wild card spot. Carr struggled last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, throwing three interceptions compared to only one touchdown. However, the veteran quarterback had three touchdown passes the week before in a win over the New England Patriots. Fantasy players have no reason to start Stidham this week against a tough San Francisco defense. Furthermore, fantasy players should consider sitting Davante Adams and Darren Waller this week.

Carr is dealing with what sounds to be a minor back injury, so as long as he doesn't suffer a setback later this week, he should be good to play in Week 8 against the New Orleans Saints and their beat up secondary. Carr threw only one TD pass in Week 7 while running back Josh Jacobs ran for three scores, but he'll be on the QB1/2 borderline this week, especially if he gets Waller back. Waller has missed the last two games but could be on track to play this Sunday. The 30-year-old has disappointed in four games so far as a high-end TE1, though, catching 16 of 24 targets for 175 yards and one touchdown.
