Doctors: Bills' Damar Hamlin has shown 'substantial improvement'

University of Cincinnati Medical Center Drs. Timothy Pritts and William Knight said Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hanlin has shown "significant improvement' on Thursday, three days removed from undergoing cardiac arrest during an NFL game. "We would like to share that there has been substantial improvement in his condition over the past 24 hours," Pritts said. "We had significant concern about him after the injury and after the event on the field and that he is making substantial progress. As of this morning, he is beginning to awaken and it appears that his neurological conditional and function is intact." "... He continues to be critically ill. He continues to undergo intensive care in (ICU)." Knight noted that Hamlin has undergone a "long and difficult road. He has been fairly sick and made a remarkable improvement. He's demonstrating signs of recovery and improvement." Pritts also noted Hamlin woke up last night and asked via writing which team won the game. Per Pritts, doctors responded to his question with the following: "Yes, you've won. You've won the game of life." That's a significant positive considering there have been concerns he could have sustained a traumatic brain injury because of a lack of oxygen. Bills teammate, Kaiir Elam, tweeted that Hamlin is awake. "Our boy is doing better, awake and showing more signs of improvement," Elam wrote. "Thank you God. Keep the prayers coming please. All love 3!" --Field Level Media
