49ers DE Nick Bosa (hamstring) ruled questionable vs. Buccaneers
After not practicing all week, San Francisco 49ers star defensive end Nick Bosa was ruled questionable for Sunday's home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a hamstring injury. The two-time Pro Bowl selection, who leads the NFL with 14.5 sacks this season, did not speak to reporters on Friday. But head coach Kyle Shanahan said that Bosa did not feel the irritation until Monday, one day after San Francisco's 33-17 win over the Miami Dolphins. "Sometimes those guys are going in the games and that does happen," Shanahan told media members Friday. "It happened with Deebo (Samuel) too on the previous week, so it was bothering him (Bosa) on Monday and looked into it and it was legit." Bosa had perhaps his best game of the season in the win over Miami, the 49ers' fifth in a row. The 25-year-old notched two tackles for loss and posted three sacks in a game for the second time in his career. If Bosa is sidelined for Sunday's matchup between first-place teams against Tampa Bay, it will mark his second missed game in 2022. He sat out the Niners' loss at Atlanta in Week 6 with a groin injury. Also for the Niners, defensive lineman Arik Armstead (foot, ankle), guard Spencer Burford (ankle), running back Christian McCaffrey (knee) and wide receiver Samuel (quad) are all ready to play, with no designation on Friday's injury report. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (foot), defensive lineman Hassan Ridgeway (pectoral) and defensive back Tarvarius Moore (knee) are all out this week. For the Buccaneers, tackle Tristan Wirfs (ankle/knee) and safeties Mike Edwards (hamstring) and Antoine Winfield Jr. (ankle) were listed as doubtful on Friday. None of the three practiced this week. Neither did running back Leonard Fournette (foot) on Friday, with the team tabbing him as questionable to play. Akiem Hicks (foot) also sat out on Friday and is questionable, as well as cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting (quad), who practiced fully after being limited each of the prior two days. --Field Level Media
