Zach Wilson’s Mom Reveals The Injury Caused The QB Serious Trauma

Zach Wilson’s injury during the Jets’ Week 15 loss to the Dolphins was among the NFL season’s more puzzling ones.

First, it was said that he required “hydration,” so he walked to the locker room before the first half was over. It was discovered after the half that he had not returned to the field while undergoing treatment for a head injury.

Wilson was finally declared out of the game by the Jets due to a concussion, but not before a flurry of rumors circulated over his condition and whether or not he had been benched following yet another subpar outing.

How bad were his symptoms? Lisa, his mother, says he took many knocks and eventually lost his vision.

In a video that she shared on her Instagram account, she stated the following:

“Yesterday was a little bit rough. Zach took some really, really big hits and he fought through it and really tried to just stay out on the field. He didn’t want to go off. He didn’t want to stop playing. So, he didn’t tell the sideline, the coaches, the trainers how he was really feeling and he tried to just fight through it and keep going so he could be out there for his guys. Finally, after one more blow to the head, he really started having problems with blurred vision and his depth perception. And, he really started worrying that he was actually going to hurt his team if he stayed out there because his vision was not right and you can’t play like that.”

Wilson was declared out of the game by the Jets, which sparked a lot of conjecture on Twitter about whether Wilson was making up a head injury to avoid playing. This was spurred by rumors earlier in the week that cast doubt on the quarterback’s health in the first place. As a result, some people believed that Wilson was being hit and only wanted to get out.

This begs a number of concerns regarding Wilson’s playing status and the reason his brain injury wasn’t discovered sooner. Protecting players who insist on playing after having sustained a traumatic brain injury is the main goal of the NFL concussion protocol.

Independent doctors make the decisions about concussions instead of the club or player under the NFL concussion protocol. When a player is seen to have taken a hit to the head, or a blow significant enough to cause a concussion, they should be assessed using the following criteria:

  • Cervical spine exam
  • Evaluation of speech
  • Observation of gait
  • Eye exam

Coach Robert Saleh gave little explanation of the diagnosis at a press conference on Monday.

Saleh stated, “I’m not exactly sure on the communication.” “I just know that it came from up top that they wanted to review for a possible head injury, and he was put in the concussion protocol, and that’s it.”

There should be a response to this shortly since the NFL looks at every situation in which a player is placed in the concussion protocol.

Wilson completed the game with four passes for eleven yards. When the Jets (5-9) face the Commanders (4-10) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, they will want to snap their six-game losing streak.

How many games has Zach Wilson started?

On the other hand, his uncle is incredibly wealthy, worth $400 million. Some of it, he apparently used to get 200 people to one of Wilson’s games.
