“You Run Your Mouth More Than a Treadmill”- Tony Ferguson Calls Out His Arch-Rival Once Again as He Chases a Season of ‘Tuf’ Against Khabib Nurmagomedov

For the better part of a decade, Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov were the best fighters at lightweight in the UFC. ‘El Cucuy’ and ‘The Eagle’ faced the very best the UFC had to offer at 155-pounds and secured dominant wins every time. Therefore, it only made sense for the UFC to book a fight between the two men. 

Unfortunately, as the story goes, the fight never took place. The promotion scheduled the fight fives times and everything from freak injuries to a pandemic came in the way of fans getting to see a fight between Ferguson and Nurmagomedov. 

After his recent loss to Michael Chandler at UFC 274, Ferguson suggested that he would like to go up against his old rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, only this time as coaches and not fighters. A few hours back, ‘El Cucuy’ took to Twitter to send Nurmagomedov a message regarding the same. He said, “Hey Fathead @TeamKhabib Ya’ Done Bidge Eatin’ That Tiramisu Yet?! You Run Your Mouth More Than A Treadmill  Quit’cha Bi**hin’ & Sign On The Dotted Line So I Can Outwork Ya Again 29-1 -Champ 🪄-CSO-# WhatAEunic.”

The idea of Tony Ferguson vs Khabib Nurmagomedov as The Ultimate Fighter coaches is something Dana White said he liked. While traditionally the two coaches fight at the end of the season, there have been instances where that was not the case, for example, with Urijah Faber and Conor McGregor. While they did coach, a season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’, they were never scheduled for a fight. 

Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson for The Ultimate Fighter desperately needed by the UFC?

‘The Eagle’ said that he would like to participate in this, as he believes the UFC is lacking a big star that is actively competing. The former champion believes that having him vs Ferguson as coaches would reinvigorate the interest and hype around the UFC.

Given that all parties are in agreement with the idea, there is a very strong possibility that the next season of ‘TUF’ will be Tony Ferguson vs Khabib Nurmagomedov.
