Yankees Wishes To Keep Aaron Judge, Offers Him $300 Million

The Yankees are aiming to sign star outfielder Aaron Judge to a new contract as quickly as possible while other competitors vie for the 2022 American League MVP as the MLB winter meetings get underway on Sunday.

Yankees Wishes To Keep Aaron Judge, Offers Him $300 Million

The Yankees have reportedly offered Judge a contract that is in the neighbourhood of eight years and $300 million, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. Depending on who else is vying for the four-time All-Star, New York might raise that offer. Aaron Judge would receive an average salary of $37.5 million under the current proposal. Aaron Judge previously turned down a $70-million-per-year deal extension from the Yankees.

Along with the Yankees, the Giants and Dodgers are also interested in Judge and are prepared to make a significant investment. According to Passan, Judge is expected to sign a contract that will break records and surpass the highest average yearly wage for a position player. Mike Trout now holds that title, earning $35.5 million.

The 30-year-old discussed the possibility of playing in the Bay Area through text message with Warriors star Stephen Curry before meeting with the Giants on November 21 in San Francisco. After receiving the endorsement of MLB great and former Giants slugger Barry Bonds, who expressed his desire to see Judge in a Giants uniform next season, Judge had a talk with Curry.

The Giants-Judge connection centres around the Yankees star having grown up in Linden Calif., less than 100 miles from San Francisco.

The 2022 AL MVP and 30-year-old AL home run king recently visited with the Giants. San Francisco is making every effort to assist in the return of the Linden native.

While there is still a great deal of uncertainty around Judge, it is evident that his audacious choice to wager on himself this past spring after turning down the Yankees’ extended offer before last season has paid off.
