Yankees Injured Star Still Contemplating His Presence At All-Star Games In Seattle

The All-Star festivities next week in Seattle will see Aaron Judge’s absence.

Because of a torn ligament in his right big toe, it was obvious when Aaron Judge was named the American League’s starting outfielder that he would not be playing in the game. However, manager Aaron Boone stated on Friday that Judge is not anticipated to attend the two days of All-Star festivities either.

“I think he’s staying here to continue treatment and baseball stuff,” Boone said before the Yankees lost to the Cubs, 3-0, in a series opener in The Bronx.

Judge, who has been recovering from a sprained big right toe that has kept him out of action for more than a month, said he is debating whether or not to attend the game with his family and friends as well as other injured players before making a decision.

“We’re still debating,’’ Judge said before the Yankees faced the Cubs on Saturday at the Stadium.

“I’ll have an answer in the next couple days,’’ Judge said. “It is important to the fans, getting voted in and representing the Yankees. It’s a special honor. This is what the fans want to see: guys voted in to go to the game, participate and be there.”

By staying in New York over the All-Star break, Judge will be able to continue his rehabilitation under the supervision of the Yankees as opposed to attending one of MLB’s prestigious events, which would involve spending a lot of time on his feet.

The only Yankee set to attend the All-Star Game may even serve as the AL’s opening pitcher, but that decision won’t be made until Monday. Gerrit Cole.

“I can get treatment anywhere, but probably more here in New York, that’s for sure,” Judge said. “I can be here at the Stadium getting work done and that’s the most important thing: Getting back on the field.”
