Yankees’ Giancarlo Stanton Aims To Overcome The Struggles & Improve His Performance

Giancarlo Stanton, the slugger for the New York Yankees, is preparing for a critical offseason as he seeks to rebound from a poor season. Stanton, who is known for his strong hitting, struggled in 2021, hitting 191 with 24 home runs and a 695 OPS. Stanton intends to spend a large amount of time in the lab this summer to make the required modifications.

Stanton accepted the need for adjustment and claimed that he would assess every element of his game. While he feels only minimal changes are required, he wants to be sure they are the proper ones. His offseason will be spent watching films and reflecting on his thought process at various points in his career in order to formulate a game plan for the coming season.

“There’ll be a lot of changes,” Stanton said on the final day of the regular season. “I’ve talked about how bad the year has been, so not much more to touch on that. But there will be a lot in the lab in the offseason.”

Asked about particulars, Stanton said, “Everything will be taken a look at.” He didn’t think it would take a major overhaul, just “minor [tweaks], but the right ones.”

“It’s a lot of film, a lot of thought process in it,” he said. “What was my thought process during a lot of the film and how they match up with other years, other good times, bad times, etc. Just get a good game plan for next year.”

Despite his troubles, Stanton still has tremendous power, as proven by his eighth-highest average exit velocity in the majors this season of 93.3 mph. He struggled, though, to get consistent outcomes from his hard-hit balls. As a result, the Yankees owe Stanton $98 million over the next four years and are counting on him to rediscover form and play at a better level.

It was especially evident because he was generally in the cleanup place of a lineup that was also struggling around him. But, with the Yankees still owing him $98 million over the next four years — and Stanton having a no-trade clause — they need him to produce at least near to his prior level.

Manager Aaron Boone expressed confidence in Stanton’s ability to recover and underlined the necessity of a successful offseason for him. They have already discussed their intentions and are focused on ensuring Stanton’s return as a key component of the team’s lineup. Stanton believes the same way and is motivated to be the guy the Yankees require of him next season.

Stanton’s offseason will be devoted to making the necessary changes to reclaim his form and become a valuable member of the Yankees’ lineup. With his strength and talent, there is hope that he will overcome his difficulties and make a substantial contribution to the team’s success. Stanton is determined to silence his detractors and prove that he is still a force to be reckoned with in the world of baseball as he walks into the lab to hone his talents.
