Yankees Ace Gerrit Cole To Undergo MRI Scan For Elbow Injury
After feeling “discomfort” in his right elbow, New York Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole is set to have an MRI, manager Aaron Boone informed reporters in Florida on Monday morning.

Speaking prior to a Grapefruit League game, Boone remarked that the current American League Cy Young Award winner has not been getting better between spring training games as anticipated.
In addition, Boone declared that captain Aaron Judge is “mid-spring beat up,” and he will not play on Tuesday or Monday. Judge left the game on Sunday one or two at-bats and two or three innings before the other regulars.
This spring, he has played center field every other day, which suggests that whatever ails him isn’t too bad.

“His recovery, before getting to his next start, has been more akin to what he feels during the season, when he’s making 100 pitches,” Boone told reporters. “When he’s at 45 [pitches] and building to 55, he usually doesn’t have the recovery issues he’s having.
“I think there’s a level of discomfort, but I wouldn’t describe it as he’s in pain.”
Regarding Cole, it goes without saying that his absence for any significant period of time would be disastrous for the Yankees, who are attempting to make a run at the postseason after finishing 82-80 in 2023—their lowest finish in thirty years.
In addition to his brilliance, he is one of the most reliable players in the game due to his longevity. The last time Cole was benched for a non-COVID cause was in 2016.

The 33-year-old, who inked a $324 million contract before the 2020 campaign, has been a Yankees workhorse ever since.
Nobody has tossed more innings than Cole (664), in the four seasons that have elapsed since.
Cole has never undergone Tommy John surgery and has been a true rarity in baseball, a rotation fixture who has made the third-most starts in MLB (300) since debuting in 2013.
