WR Antonio Brown reveals childhood NFL team he supported that denied to sign him
Since his on-field incident against the New York Jets, Antonio Brown has not participated in the NFL. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released him, and as of yet, no team has expressed interest in signing him.
Even if he doesn’t play in the NFL again, AB can be happy with his accomplishments in the past. He is a Super Bowl victor and a Pittsburgh Steelers great. Nobody can rob him of it. He still had one more thing he wanted to do in the NFL, though.
Antonio Brown was questioned about his childhood favorite team back in 2014. When asked who it was, the former Buccaneers WR said, “The Dallas Cowboys.” AB aspired to play for the Cowboys but never got the chance to do so throughout his career.
Brown had stated his wish to play for the Cowboys in March 2022. He said, “Maybe Jerry Jones thinks it looks sexy that I’m putting out all this motivation and all this hard work and encouragement. He could be trying to use some of that energy.” Unfortunately, that didn’t work out since it seems the Cowboys didn’t want him to join them.
Antonio Brown’s request to join the Cowboys received a response from Jerry Jones
After Antonio Brown expressed his desire to sign with the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, the team’s billionaire owner, had a response. He answered rather succinctly and made it plain that they were content with the situation as it was.
Let me be very clear about this, Jerry Jones: “We have some players out there who I think to offer us as excellent a depth at receiver as we have on the club as I’ve seen us have in years. I’m not talking to Antonio, so. I’m not talking to anyone specifically, but I think we would use the depth we have.”
Jerry Jones believed that the Cowboys could succeed without Brown. With AB on the squad, Jones was able to escape difficulties. On the Cowboys’ roster, there isn’t a senior player who could have handled Brown. Brown missed the opportunity to play for his preferred team as a result of their decision to avoid him.
