World Cup 2022: Suspension Rules For Semi-Finale and Finale Explained
FIFA wanted to prevent a player from missing a championship game due to a ban, so the rules for yellow cards were somewhat altered for the 2022 World Cup.
A direct or indirect red card will result in an immediate suspension from his team’s ensuing game. In addition, additional sanctions may be imposed in the event of a direct red card, depending on how serious the offence was that resulted in the dismissal.
According to FIFA rules for the 2022 tournament, players who acquire their second yellow card of the competition in the quarterfinal stage will be disqualified from the semi-finals.
If a player receives a red card in a quarterfinal game, they may also be suspended for the semifinal game.
