The Las Vegas Raiders offensive linemen Hroniss Grasu and Sabrina Ionescu are getting married in a few months, but Sabrina hasn’t started planning the event yet.

Ionescu didn’t panic like the majority of brides-to-be would have.

‘Well, um, I haven’t don’t any yet,” Ionescu mentioned wedding preparations. “I’d say we’re both a little busy. I’m a little bit of a procrastinator, so that there’s that.”

Ionescu wants to assist the Liberty in hoisting their first-ever franchise championship banner. Her trademark Sabrina 1 unisex shoe with Nike was unveiled in September.

On Friday, the Liberty take on the Washington Mystics in the first round of their best-of-three playoff series.

Hroniss Grasu, a former third-round pick (Chicago Bears, 2015), signed with the Raiders practice squad on September 4 for his sixth NFL season.

Some might wonder why they should embark on wedding planning given their hectic schedules, dedication to their individual skills, and difficulty traveling long distances.

“So, it was just [timing],” Ionescu spoke with The Post before the inaugural SI20 Foundation basketball clinic on September 9 for the youngsters at DREAM. “It had to be within our off-seasons.

“We have an idea of what we want and how everything should look and what we’ll need. It’s still a couple months away and we’ll get everything rolling, but I haven’t had too much time to devote to that side of it just yet.”

Ionescu was unable to say much more, although the pair has chosen a date for their wedding.

“The wedding will happen in the offseason,” she said. “So at least that’s good. My fiancé plays football so we don’t have a whole lot of time where we’re both off.”

The former Oregon student stated that she is more likely to be a bridezilla than Grasu, who works part-time as the director of sports culture for the Ducks’ women’s basketball team.

“It would probably be me over him,” she said, laughing. “He’s very gonna-go-with-the-flow. Yeah, he’s very go-with-the-flow. But, he’s very on top of it as well.”

The WNBA player anticipates spending her entire life with Grasu, who popped the question to her on a rooftop with candles and a floral heart arrangement in January.

“I’m excited, she gushed. “That’s obviously gonna be one of the greatest days of my life, and hopefully winning a championship will be up there in this year as well.

“I’m excited about what I’m doing off the court as well, and building a family in that category is just as important, so I’m looking forward to that as well.”

On August 30, Ionescu made her first announcement that she and Grasu would soon get married during an interview on CBS Mornings.

“It’s a great love story — a little Oregon Ducks love story,” she said at the time. “He played football at the University of Oregon. He’s a little older than me but we met as alumni from there and we’re now getting married in a couple of months.”

Since the Liberty built a Big 3 in the offseason, Ionescu is focused on obtaining a different kind of ring.

In January, the former MVP Jonquel Jones was acquired by the Liberty in a three-team transaction, freeing up enough financial space for them to match any offer made to another superstar, Syracuse-native and former MVP Breanna Stewart.
The 2023 WNBA Executive of the Year award was presented to Jonathan Kolb, general manager of the New York Liberty, on Thursday for assembling a championship-caliber team.
“Everyone has made a sacrifice and commitment to be a part of this team, and this team is completely different than last year’s team,” Ionescu told The Post.
“Everyone’s had to commit to one another — committing to their role and wanting to make this thing work. It’s a testament to who we are as basketball players, but also as people, and wanting to sacrifice and help the person next to us for the betterment of the team.”
Ionescu didn’t have to recover from an injury during the offseason for the first time ever.
Ionescu stated in a separate interview with The Post that at the beginning of the season, she felt the healthiest and most energised she has since joining the Liberty as the No. 1 pick in the 2020 draft.

That was the beginning of the Liberty’s exceptional season, which saw them finish with the No. 2 seed in the playoffs after going 8-2 in their final 10 regular-season games.
Ionescu returned to the Liberty to continue her regular-season dominance after setting a record with a score of 37 points in the 2023 WNBA Three-Point Contest.
They have the highest winning percentage (.800) in the history of the franchise with a 32-8 record.

“It’s been really nice to see us peak at the right time and figure out our style of play,” Ionescu continued. “Obviously the beginning was good, but it was a little rocky with just having to figure out how to play together and build chemistry.
“Now, we’re at the point where everyone is just rolling and we’re excited to go into the playoffs on a high note and are looking to win a championship knowing it’s not gonna be easy — but understanding that if we want to, we can do anything we want to achieve.”
