Is N’Keal Harry with his days numbered in New England? The Patriots’ first-round pick in the 2019 draft has done little to justify the team’s high investment since he was drafted and his place in the roster is not guaranteed for the 2022 season.

In three years in the NFL, Harry has only 598 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns in 33 games played. The Patriots have had clear problems with their wide receiver position over the past three years and he has done little to help ease the problem, so New England has invested a lot of money in free agency to bolster the wide receivers pool. Indeed, Harry’s place is quite threatened – he was even the subject of rumors of trades for the previous three years now.

The thing about Harry is that his situation as a player is weird. He was known as a 50-50 receiver back in College, but what became clear once he moved to the pros is that he became good as a contested-catch receiver because he failed to create any separation whatsoever. He’s not strong enough to dominate NFL players, he’s not quick enough to get a step or two behind defenders and he’s definitely not agile enough to make cuts inside.

Kendrick Bourne, Nelson Agholor and DeVante Parker have secured spots on the roster, plus Jakobi Meyers is more than secure after his good performance in 2021 and the second-round pick of Tyquan Thornton joining the rankings. the possibility of Harry being cut is very real.

If he doesn’t prove during training camp that he can be useful in a year when the Patriots are aiming to fight for the AFC East with the Buffalo Bills, his first-round pick status will be worthless when he’s cut. His place on the roster is under real threat now.
