Manfred earned the authority to add legacy choices or individuals that merited particular attention to each team through the collective bargaining agreement between the league and the players’ association.
Pujols and Cabrera have the stats necessary to be elected to the Hall of Fame. The two are among a select group of MLB players who have collected 3,000 hits, 500 home runs, and 600 doubles, along with baseball legend and Hall of Famer Hank Aaron.

Since making his MLB debut in 2003 with the Florida Marlins, Cabrera has played in 12 All-Star Games. His eight-year, $248 million deal with the Tigers, guaranteed through 2023, is about to expire.
His 12th All-Star participation follows 3,000 hits, 600 doubles, and 500 home runs. Cabrera is already 39 years old but is still performing to the best of his ability for the Tigers. This year, he has 78 hits and 18 runs in 260 ABs so far.
Meanwhile, Pujols has not been having the greatest of seasons this term for the Cardinals. So far, the 42-year-old has 25 hits and 11 runs in 126 ABs so far. But his legendary status has been secured in the MLB, with two World Series championships and 11 All-Star honours.

As one of baseball’s all-time great hitters, Miguel Cabrera has been chosen by Commissioner Rob Manfred for the American League All-Star squad. On Friday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, MLB will make the starting line-up announcements for the game. On Sunday, the league will make the complete rosters for the American and National Leagues.
