‘Why Not… I Will Be Ready’- Jan Blachowicz Fires Back at Kamaru Usman Comments that He’s a ‘Favorable’ Match-Up
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz spoke to New York Post and responded to certain comments made by the reigning welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ was open to a fight against Blachowicz and viewed him as ‘favorable’ match-up during an interview with CBS Sports.
Usman was cogent about Jan Blachowicz’s ‘legendary Polish power’, but it seems as though he is more than confident in his wrestling capabilities if they were to tussle.
“No disrespect to Jan. I think he’s a great competitor, he’s a very powerful guy, he’s got a lot of power in his hands, but I thought that was a matchup that favored me.”
Chiefly, these comments for a potential scrap certainly fired up the Polish powerhouse who was more than willing to engage in a scrap with Usman. He recognized Usman’s place as the top pound-for-pound fighter and was open to having a showdown with the 170-pound champion, presumably at the light heavyweight division given Jan Blachowicz’s natural size.

“He is the best fighter in the world right now, yes? That would be (a) pleasure for me to fight against someone like him. Why not? We can do it in (the) future. I will be ready. It will be (an) exciting fight.” [h/t bjpenn.com]
What lies ahead for Kamaru Usman?
The current P4P king is looking unstoppable these days and it’s highly likely that his reign will continue given the momentum he has generated. However, there is one fighter who has shown himself to be a surging force in the division, capable of stirring up a problem for the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’.
Khamzat Chimaev has been on a tear recently and it’s hard to imagine him being far away from a title shot. After proving that he can go toe-to-toe with the best in the division after his match-up against Gilbert Burns, fans are more hyped than ever to see him scrap with Usman.
Stylistically, he has the skills to shut down Usman’s offensive wrestling and with crippling knockout power, it’s sure to be a treat to watch both men engage in a stand-up battle.
