Why happened to Orson Charles? Former Detroit Lions TE arrested for pulling a gun at officers
Orson Charles, a former NFL tight end, is suspected of brandishing a pistol at police officers after a dispute over a parking space in a Tampa, Florida, entertainment district, according to officials.

According to online booking records maintained by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Charles, 31, of Tampa, was detained on Saturday and charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a hidden handgun, and bringing illegal substances into a detention facility. Charles played five seasons in the NFL before being discovered in possession of a small quantity of marijuana, a misdemeanour. He spent two seasons with the Bengals after being selected by Cincinnati in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He also had stints with the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, and Kansas City Chiefs.
Just before midnight on Friday, Charles and the victims allegedly attempted to park at a junction in Ybor City, according to the Tampa Police Department, according to reports.

The news station stated that Charles got out of his automobile and walked up to the victim’s car’s driver’s side. Charles allegedly threatened to shoot the victims while pulling a pistol on the cops, according to reports
According to the Times, Charles allegedly added, “I don’t give an (expletive); I have one in the brain,” after the victims identified themselves as law enforcement officials and displayed their credentials. Reports state that the victims left the parking space but reported the event to an off-duty officer with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Charles’ authorization to carry a concealed weapon had expired, according to a report from the Tampa Police Department.
Charles caught 14 catches for 185 yards during his NFL career. According to the Times, he was named to the first team of the SEC in 2011 while playing collegiate football at the University of Georgia. Charles caught 94 receptions for 1,370 yards and 10 touchdowns over the course of his three-year Bulldogs career. He was also selected in the 2020 XFL draft by the DC Defenders, but he declined to join the team.
Charles, a Tampa native, first attended Riverview High School before transferring to Plant High School. He had 75 catches for 1,418 yards and 21 touchdowns during his final year.
