Who Were The Quarterbacks Taken Before Brock Purdy In The 2022 NFL Draft?

Eight quarterbacks were selected ahead of Brock Purdy in the 2022 NFL Draft. Only one — the Steelers’ Kenny Pickett — was taken in the first round. Where each of the eight were taken in the draft:

49ers believe QB Brock Purdy injured his ulnar collateral ligament during today’s NFC Championship Game, per sources, and he will undergo an MRI Monday. The hope is that it’s not ruptured, and it would require only a six-week recovery, but tests Monday will provide clarity.

Except for two, all of the quarterbacks selected before Purdy have started at least one game for their teams (Corral and Oladokun are the exceptions). In a preseason game, Corral sustained a Lisfranc injury that necessitated his placement on season-ending injured reserve. On August 23, 2022, the Steelers released Oladokun. Eight days later, the Chiefs added him to their practise squad.

Among the rookies, Pickett has participated in and started the most games. He participated in 13 games, starting 12, and helped the Steelers to a 7-5 record. Due to their injuries, Willis, Zappe, and Thompson were compelled to onto the field. In their total seven regular-season starts, these three went 4-3.

Thompson, chosen by Miami 15 spots before Purdy, was the only other rookie in the bunch to help his team reach the playoffs. With an 11-6 victory over the Jets in Week 18, he helped the Dolphins qualify for the postseason. A week later, in the wild-card round, he came close to guiding them to victory over the second-seeded Bills.
