He declared for the 2018 NFL Draft following his junior year. He took part in the Senior Bowl in 2018. Smith declared for the 2018 NFL Draft on January 6, 2018, through a statement on his Twitter account, forgoing his remaining eligibility. Smith was chosen by the New Orleans Saints with the 91st overall pick in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. In 2018, Smith was selected as the 10th wide receiver.
