NBA basketball player Chimezie Metu is of Nigerian and American descent. He plays for the Sacramento Kings. He represented the USC Trojans in college basketball. In the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, he also appeared in 10 minutes in USC’s defeat to Providence. During the 2017 NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament, he led the group to the second round. He was honored as All-Academic Honorable Mention, 2nd Team All-Pac-12, and 2017 Pac-12 Most Improved Player.

Along with colleague Jordan McLaughlin, he was selected to the Pac-12’s First Team on March 5, 2018. He declared for the 2018 NBA draught despite being scheduled to graduate in three years and skipping the 2018 National Invitation Tournament to avoid injury. The San Antonio Spurs selected Metu as the 49th overall choice in the 2018 NBA Draft on June 21, 2018.

Later, Metu was added to the San Antonio Spurs roster for the 2018 NBA Summer League. Metu joined the Sacramento Kings on November 28, 2020, but was released on December 22 after taking part in four preseason contests. He signed a two-way contract with the Kings two days later. Metu was included in the final Nigerian roster for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup on August 27, 2019.
