The majority of NFL draft analysts and scouts anticipated Davis to be selected in the third round at the completion of the pre-draft process. In the draft, DraftScout.com graded him as the ninth-best outside linebacker prospect.

Davis was chosen by the New York Jets in the 77th overall pick of the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. 2012 saw the tenth linebacker, Davis, selected.
