Semyon Aleksandrovich Varlamov, a Russian professional ice hockey goalie with the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders, was born on April 27, 1988.

After being selected by the Washington Capitals in the first round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, 23rd overall, he began his professional career with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the Russian Superleague (RSL). After that, he played for the Colorado Avalanche for eight NHL seasons until joining the Islanders in the summer of 2019.
