On January 31, 2015, he declared his commitment to Georgia Southern. After his senior year, he received the Chris Sailer Award, given to the top high school football kicker. Bass redshirted his actual first year of college. In his redshirt junior season, he significantly improved, making 19 of 21 field-goal attempts and 45 of 45 extra-point tries. He started wearing eye black under just one eye during his final game at Georgia Southern as a tribute to his grandma.
