American professional baseball coach and former player Brian Snitker is the Major League Baseball team manager of the Atlanta Braves. Brian has remained with the Braves ever since playing in their minor league system from 1977 to 1980, serving in a number of roles. He was named their manager in 2016. In 2021, Brian led the Braves to a World Series triumph.
Brian represented Lincoln College in junior college baseball for two seasons in 1975. He played catcher for the Lynx baseball team and was named to the second team of the state’s all-stars. He played two seasons at the University of New Orleans to round out his undergraduate career.
He was selected by Atlanta Braves as an international free agent in 1977. He played most of the time as a catcher and sometimes as a first baseman in the minor leagues. After playing in MLB he was hired by Atlanta Braves as a roving instructor for an Anderson Braves in 1982. He also managed other minor league teams like, Durham Bulls, Macon Braves, Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Mississippi Braves, Richmond Braves, and Greenville Braves. He had a career as a minor league manager for 15 years and was also Carolina League Manager of the Year.
Brian was appointed in the 2017-2018 season as a full-time manager. He was awarded the National League Manager of the Year Award in 2018.
