The Orlando Magic selected Banchero as the first overall choice in the 2022 NBA Draft. On July 7, he played his first game in the summer league against the Houston Rockets.

Rhonda Banchero, Banchero’s mother, was a college basketball player for Washington and retired as the program’s all-time leading scorer.
