Spencer Strider is a talented young baseball player who has quickly established himself as one of the top pitching prospects in the game. Born on January 14, 1999, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Strider grew up playing baseball and was a standout player at Christian Academy of Knoxville before going on to play at Clemson University.
At Clemson, Strider quickly made a name for himself as a dominant pitcher. In his freshman season in 2018, he appeared in 20 games and posted a 5-2 record with a 4.76 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 62 innings pitched. He followed that up with a strong sophomore campaign in 2019, going 5-4 with a 4.76 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 74 innings pitched.

However, it was Strider’s performance in the 2020 season that really put him on the map as a top prospect. In just four starts before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Strider went 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA and an impressive 40 strikeouts in just 20 innings pitched. His fastball regularly hit the mid-90s, and he showed off an impressive slider and changeup that kept hitters off-balance.
Following the shortened 2020 season, Strider was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves. He quickly signed with the team and reported to their alternate training site for the remainder of the season
