Kristaps was born on 2 August 1995 in Liepaja, Latvia to parents Talis Porzingis and Ingrida Porzinge. Both of his parents were basketball players, and they only introduced him to this game. His father, Talis, was a semi-professional wrestler before becoming a bus driver. Ingrida, his mother, was a member of the Latvian women’s young national basketball team.
