Born on February 1, 1991, Kyle Charles Palmieri is a professional ice hockey player from the United States who plays right wing for the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders (NHL). He was formerly a player for the Anaheim Ducks and New Jersey Devils.
Playing hockey for the Devils-sponsored teams at Codey Arena in West Orange, New Jersey, Palmieri grew up on Long Island. He spent two years as a student at St. Peter’s Preparatory School before being selected to play for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP).

Through 33 games, he recorded 15 goals and 15 assists while in the program. Because of his play, Palmieri was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the first round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, 26th overall.

Following their marriage, Kyle’s parents lived in Smithtown for a while before relocating to Montvale, New Jersey, when Kyle was four years old. His father’s cousin, retired shortstop Bud Harrelson, is his godfather. His father was a builder of homes and lived for a while in North Fork, Long Island. When Palmieri was five years old, he started playing ice hockey at a friend’s house. Under coach Gary Hess, he started playing hockey with the Kodiak Hockey Club at McKay Ice Arena.
