The Grizzlies picked Morant with the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, and in 2020 he was voted the league’s Rookie of the Year. After winning the NBA Most Improved Player Award at the end of the season, Morant was nominated to his first All-NBA Team and was named to his first NBA All-Star Game as a starter in 2022.
