John Harbaugh completed his high school education at Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where his father Jack worked as Bo Schembechler’s assistant at the adjacent University of Michigan.

John Harbaugh Coaching Career
He was one of four assistant coaches retained by new head coach Andy Reid in 1999 after being hired for the first time in the NFL by the Philadelphia Eagles’ then-coach Ray Rhodes in 1998. In the Sid Gillman coaching tree as a result, he received a master’s degree and served as an assistant football coach at Western Michigan from 1984 to 1987.
In 2004, he was considered as a potential contender to succeed Gary Darnell as the head football coach there. After Jason Garrett, the team’s top pick, opted to remain with the Dallas Cowboys after earning a raise and a promotion to assistant head coach, Harbaugh was named the third-ever head coach of the Baltimore Ravens on January 19, 2008.
