David was selected by Los Angeles Dodgers in the 19th round 1995 draft but he did not sign the contract and went for his college baseball career at Auburn University. Later in 1998, he was again selected by Los Angeles Dodgers in the 7th round of overall selection. He debuted in 2002 in the major league as a pinch hitter.
