American football coach Jonathan Gannon is the head coach of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals. The Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans, Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts, and Philadelphia Eagles were among the teams for whom he had worked as an assistant coach. Gannon, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, attended Saint Ignatius High School and excelled in three sports, winning a state title as a point guard in basketball, a district title as a hurdler in track, as well as being an outstanding wide receiver and defensive back.

Jonathan Gannon Coaching Career

Following Bobby Petrino to the National Football League, Gannon was hired by the Atlanta Falcons as a defensive quality control coach in 2007. Gannon was employed as a college scout by the St. Louis Rams in 2009. He left the Rams in 2011 after being elevated to a pro scout in 2010.

Gannon made a comeback to coaching in 2012 and was appointed as a defensive quality control coach by the Tennessee Titans. He held this job with the team until 2013. The Minnesota Vikings hired Gannon in 2014 to serve as their defensive quality control and assistant defensive backs coach.

Gannon joined the Indianapolis Colts in 2018 as head coach Frank Reich’s defensive backs and cornerbacks coach, and he remained there through 2020. The Philadelphia Eagles hired Gannon in 2021 to serve as their defensive coordinator. On February 14, 2023, Gannon was appointed head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, two days after they lost Super Bowl LVII.
