Bridgewater joined the New Orleans Saints in 2019 as a backup quarterback, but he eventually replaced Drew Brees as the team’s starter. Later, he spent one season each as a starter with the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos before joining the Dolphins as a backup in 2022.

Rose Murphy and Bridgewater Sr. are Teddy’s parents. Andrea Bridgewater, Teddy’s older brother and two older sisters, inspired Teddy to take up football. His mother was a school bus driver and then a Field dispatcher for the Miami Dade County Public Schools Department of Transportation. He went to Miami Northwestern High School, where in his sophomore year he took Jacory Harris’ place as the main quarterback. He finished the season throwing for 1,560 yards at an average rate of 60.6 percent, resulting in 16 touchdowns and three interceptions.
His 19 of 24 completions for 327 yards and seven touchdowns set a Dade County record as a junior.

Bridgewater inked a one-year, $6,500,000 deal with the Miami Dolphins that paid him an average annual salary of $6,500,000 as well as a $2,000,000 signing bonus. Bridgewater will make $4,500,000 in basic pay and $6,500,000 in dead cap value in 2022.
